REGULATION NO. 11
Rules for the institution of Scholarships, Prizes and the Award of Medals under Statute No. 30 of the Awadhesh Pratap Singh Vishwavidyalaya, Rewa (MP)

 

I. SCHOLARSHIPS AND RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS

       A.     Degree & Post-degree level Scholarships -

1.     The minimum amount of Scholarship for B.A., B.Com., B.Sc., B.Ed. & LL B. should Rs. 50/- per month and the
         minimum endowment for this should be Rs. 10,000/-.

2.     The minimum amount of Scholarship for M.A., M.Sc., M.Com.,M.Ed. and LL M. should be Rs. 100/- per month
        and the minimum endowment for this should be Rs. 20,000/-.

3.     The minimum amount of Scholarship for M.B.B.S. and B.E. (Engineering) should be Rs. 100/- per month and the
        endowment for this should be Rs. 20,000/-. For M.S., M.D. and M.E. (Engineering) the minimum amount of
        scholarship should be Rs. 150/- a month with a minimum endowment of Rs. 30,000/-

4.     If a Donor desires to award a Scholarship of higher value than mentioned in paras 1,2 and 3 above the Endowment
        shall have to be proportionately increased by the Donor.

5.     The Scholarships shall ordinarily be tenable for two academic sessions, i.e., for twelve months in the first year and
        ten months in the second year on condition that the Scholarship-holder produces a certificate of efficiency in studies
        from the Head of the Deptt. in the subject of study and the Principal of the College.

6.     The Scholarship shall be tenable from Ist of July, the Scholarship holder joins the college within one month of the
        date of  the opening of the College after the summer vacation and pays the tution fee from the commencement of
        the session. In any other case, it shall be tendable from the date on which the candidate joins the College.

7.     If two or more candidates are eligible for the award of the Scholarship, it shall be divided equally between the
        candidates concerned.

8.     The payment of Scholarship be made only on receipt of Scholar’s receipt bills duly countersigned by the Principal.
        No Scholarship shall be drawn for a month unless the Scholarship-holder has attended the College regularly.

9.     A Scholarship-holder shall not combine any other course for the Master’s degree.

10.    A Scholarship shall be cancelled in the Final Year if the Scholarship-holder fails to secure atleast 50% marks in
         the previous examination of the concerned Master’s degree of Arts, Science or Commerce and 60% in other
         Faculties.

11.    If a Scholarship-holder is unable to appear at the previous examination on account of sickness or any other
         reasonable cause, the Scholarships for the month of March and April shall be paid only if the Principal of the
         College certifies that the Scholar diligently studied for the examination, but was unable to take the examination for
         reasons beyond control. Such a Scholar shall not receive Scholarship during the next session but shall be entitled to
         the Scholarship during the studies for the Final Examination if the scholar passes the previous examination with the
         requisite standard in the succeeding year in the final attempt.

12.    A Scholarship-holder shall be of good behaviour and observe all rules of discipline as prescribed by the authorities
         of the University.

13.     A Scholarship shall be liable to termination if :
          (i) the Scholarship-holder discontinues studies during the middle o f a session, or.
          (ii) the Scholarship-holder, after he has been given a reasonable opportunity to explain his conduct, is in the
               opinion of the Executive Council guilty of a breach of rule 11 (above mentioned ).

14.     (And, if the Executive Council so directs the Scholarship-holder shall also be liable to refund the amount of
          Scholarship drawn thenceforth by him). The order of termination passed by the Executive Council shall be final.

15.     The Principals of Colleges shall not later than one month after the last date of admission each year, forward to the
          Registrar a list of students applying for Scholarship from their colleges together with full and complete information
          regarding the place and marks obtained by each student in the preceding examination and the final examination.

16.     After taking into consideration the information received under the immediately preceding rule and such further
          information as the Executive Council shall make the awards on the basis of relative merit of the students applying
          for the Scholarships.

         B.     Research Fellowships -

1.     The minimum amount of Scholarship for Ph.D. should be Rs. 150 a month and endowment should be Rs.
        30,000/- Similarly for research after Ph.D., M.S., M.D. or M.E. (Engg.), a Scholarship of Rs. 250/-, a month
        with a minimum endowment of Rs. 50,000/- would be suitable.

2.     A subject for which a fellowship shall be awarded shall be selected by the Executive Council on the
        recommendation of the Standing Committee of the Academic Council.

3.     The Conditions for the award of a fellowship shall be that :
        (i) the selection shall be made on merit for the subject for which the fellowship is sanctioned ;
        (ii) the fellowship grant be paid at the end of each month for the period for which the fellowship is tenable ;
        (iii) the person for whom the fellowship has been awarded shall if so required by the University, work as a
              tutorian institution to which he may be assigned by the University.
        (iv) the fellow shall carry on his research work with due diligence and industry under such a guide and is such
              institution as the University may determine ; and,
         (v) the fellow shall at all times be of good behaviour and observe all rules of discipline as prescribed by the
              authorities of the University.

4.     The Fellows shall ordinarily be required to submit their thesis for the Ph.D. within a period of two years from the
        date of commencement of the Fellowship. If any research fellow (i) fails to prosecute his research for the whole or
        the period for  which he is awarded Fellowship, or (ii) fails to prosecute such research in accordance with the         
        conditions prescribed under this Ordinance, or (iii) fails to submit his thesis for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy
        within a period of three years of his registration for the Ph.D. Degree of the University he shall, unless decided
        otherwise by Executive Council, be required to refund in a single instalment received by him from the University
        towards the Fellowship. The instalment shall be payble to the University within a period of one month of the date
        of issue of the notice requiring refund of the amount.
           

5.     A Fellowship shall be liable to termination if :-
       (i) the fellow, after he has been given a reasonable opportunity to explain his conduct, is in the opinion of the
           Executive Council guilty of a breach of any of the conditions of the award of the Fellowship; or
      (ii) the Executive Council after seeing the periodical reports of the work of a fellow from his guide, is of the opinion
           that the work of a fellow is not upto the standard.

6.     The order of termination of Fellowship passed by the Executive Council, shall be final.

II. PRIZES

1.     For a cach prize of Rs. 100/- at the degree-level of all faculties for any particular subject, the endowment should
        be not less than Rs. 2,000/-.

2.     For a cach prize of Rs. 150/- for the Master’s degree and for Law, the endowment should be not less than Rs.
        3,000/-

3.    For prizes for paper contributed to recognise research Journals each faculty shall, in consultation with the Board of
       Studies, for the subjects comprised in the faculty, prepare a list of Research Journals, the publication of a paper in
       which he shall qualify for the award of the prizes.

4.     If, after receiving a recommendation from the Board of Studies, to that effect, the Dean of the Faculty recommends
        to the Executive Council, that a particular paper is of a standard deserving a prize, the Executive Council may award
        a prize.

5.     The Executive Council shall have the power to lay down further conditions, in respect of such awards as mentioned
         in Rule 3 above, and the procedure for receiving the award in accordance with such regulations as it may make.


III. MEDALS

1.     For a Gold Medal in any faculty, the minimum endowment should be Rs. 3,000/-.

2.     For Silver medal in any faculty, the minimum endowment should be Rs.750/-.

                      In exercise of the powers conferred under Section 52 (4) (V) of the Madhya Pradesh Vishwavidyalaya Adhiniyam 1973, the Vice Chancellor has been pleased to approve the Regulation regarding confidential reports of the
University Officers, Teachers and their subordinate staff.
                     The Regulation so approved comes into force with immediate effect.
