The School of Environmental Biology was established in the year 1977 as the first University Teaching Department of its kind in the country. Since then, sincere and serious efforts are being made to accomplish the goals and objectives, through the updating and revision of courses to provide the nation, well-groomed experts in the subject. The enlightened faculty of the department keeps track of the changing needs and accordingly the course contents are periodically revised and adopted. The department offers CBCS based M. Sc. in Environmental Biology, Biotechnology and Microbiology as PG Programmes and B.Sc. (Hons) in Biotechnology and Microbiology as UG Programmes as per NEP 2020.
Special Achievements:
Eleven students got selected in Assistant Professor, MPPSC 2018 and several selections in scientific officer in MPPSC 2017 and 4 scientists been recruited. Several students have qualified UGC NET and C.S.I.R.
The Centre for Biotechnology has its MOU with the Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic plants, Lucknow; National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources Lucknow, Mango Research Institute Lucknow, so that the students can do their project work and get a stipend. The centre recommends the name of students in different National Laboratories and industries for the project work. The students get the most advanced practical training in these institutes.
