The department was established in 1985-86 (erstwhile known as computer centre), in the university by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi with the aim of starting job oriented computer courses and employment oriented programs to the students of Vindhya region. In the beginning the department was headed by Prof. S. P. Agrawal, who contributed immensely to its firm establishment and development. Initially ICIM DRS 300 Mini computer System was installed with other peripheral devices including line printers. The established computer centre was upgraded in year 2000 by the UGC. In the year 2017 the University has renamed computer centre as Department of Computer Application. At present department has more than fifty Pentium personal computers, printers and other peripheral devices. The department conducts training programs for university / college teachers, employees and students, besides computing and software development for the university.
