This department was established in 1984 and specializes in the field of Clinical and Counseling Psychology. The founder faculty members of the department have been Late. Prof. Amrendra Lal Singh, Prof. A.K. Srivastava, (Retd.) and Prof. Anjali Srivastava. Prof. R.S. Singh, (Retd.) joined the department later as a Reader. The department offers BA(Hons), MA, PhD Programmes in Psychology. Apart from this under its canopy, the department runs MSW & BSW Programmes in Study Centre for Social Work.
The department has organized several National/Regional Seminars and Workshops. It has collaborated with a number of NGOssuch as Red Cross Rewa, Chinmay Seva Trust, LaxmanpurRewa, Sidhi). “Field education in Social Work is a component of Social Work education programs where students learn to practice Social Work through educationally focused service experiences in agency and community settings.” However, the Social Work Students and teachers actively engage in organizing camps and awareness programmes in adopted villages by the University. The National Child Labor Project was conducted by the department twice.
Students of PG Diploma in Guidance & Counseling (PGDGC) undergo internship under the guidance of psychiatrists and MSW students undergo training in various organization. Teachers & students (placed as counselors) were actively engaged in providing counseling to the needy during COVID19 pandemic and other clients in the psychological disorder.
